Change Management

So what is Change Management? At Talent Connections, we define change management as the continuous process of aligning an organization with its marketplace and doing it more responsively and effectively than competitors. Alignment is the continuous synchronization of four key management levers namely; strategy, operations, culture and reward. The concept of change management is grounded in the principal of continuous measurement and feedback on the people, processes and systems within the organization. No company can truly align itself to its market, unless all of the people are behaving as the market demands. One example of this type of change would be a shift in selling strategy from a product sales organization to a solution driven sales organization.

There are 5 key steps in the change management model which are as follows:

  1. Change triggers within the marketplace.
  2. Destabilizing existing business solutions.
  3. Reassessment of alignment to the market.
  4. Change decision.
  5. Implementing the change management plan.

Implementing change is no easy task due to the fact that culture, structure, skills, and leadership are all affected at various levels depending upon the change which is being implemented. The driver of change should always be the investment in the customer. The issues that need to be reconciled include time, quality, customer perspective, people empowerment, efficiency, (eliminating non-value added activities), and flexibility. No matter what the size of your organization is at today, it pays to understand the risks of not managing the change effectively.
