A mass shooting rocks a community. A natural disaster brings death and destruction. A global pandemic upends our way of life. Recent polling suggests 70 percent of adults in the U.S. have experienced some type of traumatic event in their lives. That number is even higher for those with high-stress jobs like law enforcement, first responders, and healthcare workers. In the workplace, people who have experienced trauma can have trouble concentrating, they’re prone to making errors in judgment, and they’re at increased risk for accidents and injury. As a result, trauma can cost organizations more than $120 billion each year.
In this program, participants will gain awareness and strategies in developing a trauma-informed organization. Trauma-informed leadership is about igniting dialogue and shifting perspectives
around the prevalence of trauma. This leads to higher productivity, increased retention of high performers, and a more committed workforce.
Program Learning Objectives:
♦ Understand the prevalence of trauma, and how that can impact the emotional and psychological needs of individuals, as well as their performance at work.
♦ Learn and apply the 4 R framework: Realize, Recognize, Respond and Resist to foster trust, respect, and positive healthy leader attributes that lead to job satisfaction and a reduction
in turnover.
♦ Learn how to cultivate emotional intelligence trough an inclusive language tool called: Traummunicate™️- a trauma-informed communication approach that inspires trust, respect
and authentic engagement.
♦ Shift perspective from “What’s wrong with you, to What’s happened with you?” – The Power of Empathy and Engagement to meet team members where they are.
Participants will receive The Mental Hygiene Project® Wheel of Influence™️ self-assessment tool in an electronic format for review and reference.
